Sebaceous cysts don’t put our lives in danger; however, that doesn’t change that they are unpleasant and painful. The reason why our skin is moist and healthy is due to the sebaceous glands. However, when a hair follicle obstructs these glands in our skin, it forms a cyst. When this happens, don’t attempt to pick or pop the sebaceous cysts. It will only worsen the situation.
Conservative Care
For this method, apply a warm washcloth or a heating pad to the lesion. Hold it there for about 10 to 15 minutes. Heat will help with blood circulation, and the pus will go away in a natural way. Sometimes the best way to heal is waiting. Don’t forget to wash the area with antibacterial soap to prevent infection. Repeat the process for a few days while keeping the area clean and dry.
Epsom Salt and Potassium Iodide
For this method to work, add a cup of Epsom salt mixed into bathwater. Soak in it for about 15 minutes. This will help reduce the swelling and flush out bacteria. However, it also has a therapeutic effect as it reduces the pain and discomfort sebaceous cysts create.
Apply a small amount of potassium iodide on the lesion to reduce inflammation. This is the best natural remedy to get rid of the sebaceous cyst. Its properties destroy the bacteria effectively.
Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, and Tea Tree Oil
Coconut, castor, and tea tree oils have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore applying one of them to the affected area will reduce inflammation and speed the healing process. In order for this method to work, use one of the oils a few times per day. If the size of the sebaceous cyst is big and it becomes too unbearable, use castor oil and apply a heating pad on it. This will help reduce the cyst’s size.
