Are you having trouble with hemorrhoids? I have gathered a few pieces of information that will help your case. However, before we proceed, please check in with your medic for an appropriate diagnosis.
Hemorrhoids are painful only if they are located on the outer side of the anal canal. If located internally, you won’t feel any pain, except occasionally bleeds.
“First, realize that hemorrhoids normally do not hurt, but may bleed painlessly,” says colorectal surgeon Massarat Zutshi, MD.
What exactly are hemorrhoids? Swollen veins in your lower rectum. Once the piles reach the outer zone, they become larger, and you are more likely to get a blood clot. Haemorrhoids can cause excessive pain if they become thrombosed.
Here are a few home remedies to shrink down the piles:
Sitz baths
Doctors recommend sitz baths to alleviate the pain. Sit your bum in warm water for 15 minutes a couple of times per day for better effects.
Witch hazel
Although science doesn’t back up this remedy due to its anti-inflammatory properties, Dr. Zutshi says it is ok to apply it to the affected area.
Psyllium husk
Increase your fibre with the Psyllium husk supplement. It will help you have less painful stools. However, you need to be careful with the dosage as it might cause stomach aches. Dr. Zutshi says it will also regulate bowel movements.
Aloe vera
According to the experts, it is safe to use aloe vera, but only if pure due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Apply the sap directly to the hemorrhoids. Also, do not use aloe vera creams as you might make things worse.
Epsom salt and glycerin
You can paste yourself by mixing two tablespoons of Epsom salt and the same amount of glycerin. Apply on the inflammation for at least 15 up to 20 minutes. You need to repeat the treatment after four or six hours.
Remember to eat fiber and drink enough water every day to help you ease the problem.
