Dietitian’s Best Tips for Healthy Weight-Loss Without Counting Calories

Many of us want to be active and modify our diets in order to get that look or feel that way. However, reaching your desired weight without trying to cut way back on what you’re eating can be challenging. You may start to give up when it seems like the diet, activity, or food just isn’t affecting the way you feel. That’s where dietitian Kylie Sakaida steps in. As a registered dietician with years of experience, she offers healthy lifestyle tips to those that want to reach their fitness goals without struggling with proper weight loss techniques.

Eat slowly

It takes 20 minutes for your brain to determine whether you’re full or not. This is one of the reasons why rushing through meals is a bad habit – you’re not giving your body time to analyze and decide whether or not it’s full. It’s also why snacking throughout the day is a mistake – it creates a deficit that affects how hungry you are throughout the day and leads to weight gain. To eliminate snacking and ensure you stick to a healthy eating routine each day, make sure you recognize when you’re full and stop feeding yourself until your stomach is empty.

Eat protein

You should eat protein a couple of times each day to stay full for longer. This is one of the most powerful and easy ways to lose weight without going to the gym. It doesn’t matter if your diet is strict or varied, you need protein in your diet at least once a day to keep your body working properly. Most people don’t realize that carbs are digested very quickly, whilst protein has to wait until it is broken down into amino acids by your body. So if you are looking to pack on the pounds quicker without having to give up all those delicious carbs that are filling your stomach.
