Meditation, deep breathing, and other mindfulness techniques have become increasingly popular in recent years. But it’s easy to take them for granted. Here are a few simple ways to bring mindfulness into your life.

1. Meditation

Meditation, or mindfulness meditation, is the practice where you focus one’s attention on the present moment. Mindfulness meditation has been shown to reduce stress levels, improve self-awareness and self-confidence, enhance empathy, reduce pain, and promote health and vitality.

2. Breathing

The breath is an easy place to practice mindfulness. The act of breathing itself brings your attention back to the present moment. By consciously observing your breathing, you are able to bring your awareness to the present moment.

3. Posture

Posture, or how you sit, stand or move, affects your level of stress. Sitting or standing straight with good posture can help you feel more relaxed and alert.

4. Unplug

Constantly checking e-mails, texts, and voicemails is stressful and detracts from your ability to be mindful. Unplugging, while being difficult at first, will leave you feeling more refreshed and able to focus.

5. Movement

Regular physical exercise helps release endorphins, which can help you feel more alert and energized. It can also be a great form of mindfulness meditation.

6. Journaling

Writing in a journal is a great way to reflect on your day, and your thoughts. It can be therapeutic, and a great way to bring mindfulness into your life.
