How To Make Your Next Move Less Stressful

Moving is stressful, but it doesn’t have to be.

Whether you’re moving from one apartment to another or from one city to another, here are some tips for a smooth transition:

  • Plan ahead. Moving can take a lot of time, so plan accordingly and start early. If you need help, hire movers; otherwise, enlist friends and family members to help you pack and move your belongings.
  • Make a list of everything that needs to be packed up. This will help you know what items are where and make packing easier.
  • Create an inventory of all your belongings, including serial numbers and model numbers, if possible. This will help ensure that you get everything back at the other end of your trip if something gets lost or damaged during the move.
  • Pack early so all your possessions are out of the way before they can be damaged by other things that need to be moved around in your home or apartment.
  • Try not to pack too much at once, as it can be overwhelming and lead to burnout quickly. Break up the process into chunks by doing one room or section at a time instead of trying to do everything at once.
  • Get help from friends or family members if you need it. If you’re moving out on your own for the first time, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all the logistics involved in moving day. Don’t be afraid to ask for help — chances are good that at least one friend or family member will be willing to lend a hand if asked nicely!
  • Get rid of unnecessary items before moving day arrives. If there’s anything in your home that doesn’t bring joy or meaning into your life anymore, consider getting rid of it well before moving day arrives so that it won’t take up unnecessary space during the move itself (or after).
