Tips for Bathroom Remodeling for the Do-It-Yourselfer

After a long day at work, we come home and relax in our bathrooms. We use them to get clean or groom ourselves, or just to relax. But when you feel like your bathroom is lacking something or the space is too small, it’s time for you to start planning a bathroom remodeling project. You can do this DIY style by following the tips for bathroom remodeling we have shared below:

  • Select a style that fits your personality. If it’s too “matchy-matchy,” you might not like the finished product. Your new look should fit with what you already have in your home, or at least stand up well to it if you decide to sell.
  • Treat your home’s comfort level as your priority. Bathrooms are often thought of as places for function over form, but try to think of them as spaces where you can make everyone in your family happy. You don’t need to spend a lot of money in order to achieve that goal. Just be mindful of how you’re changing the space so that each member of your family feels at home in the new layout.
  • The best way to get started is to sit down with a pen and paper and sketch out the floor plan for your new bathroom. Once you’ve made notes about what features and fixtures will go where, look for fixtures and accessories with multiple purposes. For instance, a sink that also includes a faucet can save you on plumbing costs — especially if it has a single lever handle control.
  • Shop online. Online stores offer a huge selection of bathroom fixtures at low prices, even without any coupons or discounts. They also make it easy to compare prices among various brands and styles so that you can get exactly what you need for the lowest price possible.
