Age is just a number, but it’s also something that can affect your body and mind. It’s normal to experience changes as you get older, but some of those changes can make you feel less comfortable in your own skin.
If you’re looking for ways to turn back the hands of time after 60, here are some tips that might help:
- Stay active. Exercise is one of the best things you can do for your body at any age, but it becomes even more important as you get older. Regular physical activity will help keep your heart healthy and maintain muscle mass, which helps prevent osteoporosis and other bone diseases.
- Get enough sleep. A good night’s rest helps your body repair itself from everyday wear and tear, which includes slowing down the aging process. Try going to bed a little earlier each night until you’re getting seven or eight hours of sleep every night.
- Eat healthy food. Eating well is one of the easiest ways to stay young and healthy into old age, so don’t deprive yourself of things like fruits and vegetables because they’re good for you! Be sure to limit junk food intake as well — too much sugar can lead to weight gain and diabetes later in life.
- Moisturize every day after bathing or showering to help keep your skin hydrated, which helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Look for a moisturizer that contains antioxidants such as vitamins C and E, which protect against free radicals (unstable molecules that damage cells).
- Wear sunscreen daily. Sunscreen protects against damaging UV rays that cause wrinkles, brown spots and skin cancer. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher every day, even in winter months when the sun isn’t as strong.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water every day — at least eight 8-ounce glasses total — to prevent dehydration and dry skin that can lead to wrinkles around the eyes and mouth.
