Sugar Paste For Waxing: All You Need To Know

Remove the unwanted hair with a natural sugar paste. There are many hair removal products on the market, but most of them are full of chemicals. Our recipe and guidelines will ensure the best results while keeping your skin healthy. Here’s how to make the sugar paste.

Recipe

You will need 2 cups of white cane sugar, 1/4 cup lemon juice and 1/4 cup of water. After squeezing the lemons:

  1. Strain it to use only the clean juice.
  2. Use a heavy saucepan to mix all ingredients over medium-high heat and stir regularly.
  3. Bring it to a boil and leave it to simmer for about 25 minutes over low-medium heat.
  4. When the paste turns a dark amber colour, it’s ready.
  5. Leave it to cool for 10 minutes, then add it to an airtight container.

Get your skin ready

I advise you to take a shower or bath before applying the sugar paste to the skin. Don’t apply any other body lotion or moisturizer before starting the hair removal process. You can use a pre-wax skin cleanser instead of taking a shower. It has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Use a little bit of baby powder, cornstarch, or powder to wax the skin and rub it gently in the area you want to apply the sugar paste. Whatever option you choose will not let the sugar paste stick to your skin, and it will help you grasp the hair better.

Get the sugar paste ready

If you plan to remove the hair on the same day you made the paste, wait for it to cool off until it’s just a bit warm. If the natural waxing mix is cold, you can microwave it for 5 seconds until it’s soft and warm.

Take a small amount of paste in your hand and roll it until it becomes a ball. The process will warm the mix a little bit and get it ready to use. However, don’t apply too much pressure.

How to apply and remove the sugar paste

Add the sugar paste to your skin in the opposite direction of the growing hair. Make sure you also add a little pressure on the product for better hair grasping before pulling it off. Rip it off in one swift movement parallel to the skin.

Never pull it off in an upward motion; otherwise, you risk breaking the hair. Ripping it properly also reduces the risk of hair infection and ingrown hair. The mix can remove hair as short as 1/16 of an inch with less pain than the usual products. If there is still some hair left, you can use the same ball of paste twice or thrice.

Where to use the sugar paste

The answer is simple: anywhere. You can use it on your legs, arms, bikini zone, armpits and even face. However, be careful with around the eyebrows. This mix is 100% natural and, according to public opinion, less painful.

How to remove the excess

Compared to regular wax, sugar paste is easier to be removed from the skin. You can simply remove the excess with soap and water. Wax requires oil-based products in order to remove it completely. The skin is slightly irritated after sugar or normal waxing. Therefore, using a wax cooling product is a must in both cases. Apply the cooling cream to lessen any redness or stinging.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you should avoid touching the waxed zones for the first 24 hours. Because there are many bacteria on our hands, it’s the best way to prevent skin irritation and pimples. Overall, the sugar paste is cheaper and as effective as the standard wax.
